Requirements

|
If
you are a citizen of another country and you would like to get married
in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, you can do so under
the Laws of Mexico which are recognized world-wide.
|
In
Mexico for a marriage to be legal, you have to be wed by an
Official Civil Judge (Marriage Judge) that
represents the Federal Government of the Mexican Republic.
Religious
weddings are performed by Catholic priests or Ministers of other
religious (protestant, etc.) but before they can do so, they will
require to see the legal documentation that a previous Civil Marriage
was performed. Both weddings, civil and religious, can be
performed
the same day. |
In
Mexico a religious wedding is not mandatory for your marriage to be valid.
The official part with the Civil Judge is enough because it's the legal
action recognizer by domestic and international authorities.
The
documents required for foreigners to be able to legally be wed in Mexico
are... for both consorts...

Make
photocopies of ALL the documents required. For passports, photocopy the
part that has the passport number, your name and photo. You MUST
present both the originals and copies and they will return you the
originals after verification. You'll get the Marriage Certificate after the ceremony
is held.
If
the ceremony would be held outside the Civil Court House, they will
charge approx. US$250.00 for the Judge external services and will depend on the
day of the week, time and location of the ceremony. This charge is in
addition to the license fee when the ceremony is held outside the
courthouse.

The
extra fee (external wedding fee) includes that the Judge will attend to
the place you previously selected for the wedding to take place such as
at your hotel, in a villa, a restaurant, right on the beach, on a cliff
overlooking our town or bay, etc. You'll have many beautiful and
marvelous options to make it an unforgettable moment in your life.
|
Most
big hotels and some small inns offer basic
Wedding Packages that include the official
judge ceremony, bouquet of flowers for the bride, flower arrangements, a
champagne toast, a wedding cake and three nights honeymoon lodging.
Other
package options or additional services such as simultaneous translation of the
ceremony, religious wedding after the official one, honeymoon dinner, a
party, photographer and/or videographer, longer honeymoon lodging, extra
flower arrangements, lodging for your guests, etc., are readily
available. |
Just
check with hotels or inns, we are sure they will have the right package
to fit your plans or make a special one... according to your needs.
 |
The
price of packages that include dinner can vary considerably
according to the type requested because they offer from typical
banquet dinners to sophisticated ones and even gourmet dinners.
The small hotels that offer packages but do not have their own
restaurant, use the catering services of very renowned
restaurants, with excellent Chefs. Another option that you might
find less expensive is to conduct the ceremony in one place and
dinner at another. |
We
have a few Wedding Planners in town. Some will plan your wedding at the
place of your choice but others will only do it in certain hotels. Check
around and it is wise to ask for references of their services.
Consider
the possibility of buying your wedding rings in our towns or in nearby
Petatlan, prices may be cheaper that at home. Also as you know, Mexican
artisans are excellent jewel designers and if you don't find the ones
you like they can make them for you. |
 |
WE HOPE THAT YOU'LL HAVE AN UNFORGETTABLE WEDDING IN IXTAPA-ZIHUATANEJO !!!
